June 26, North Henderson High School United Way of Henderson County Inaugural LIVE UNITED 10K Run (Certified and Chip Timed Course) United Way of Henderson County will host the inaugural LIVE UNITED 10K run on Saturday, . Morris Broadband is the lead sponsor for the event and all proceeds will benefit the 2010 United Way Campaign. Registration will be held on race day beginning at 4:30 PM, but pre-registration is strongly encouraged. A 400 meter Fast Dash for children will be held on the track beginning at 6:10 PM. Smoky Streak - The WestCare Foundation invites you to Sylva for the 11th Smoky Streak. Both the 5K
and 10K finish at Webster Baptist Church and both feature and fairly flat track along the scenic Tuckaseegee

Southcliff Black & Blue Classic - Runners from across the region are invited to Southcliff Asheville for
two unique trail races. The Blue race is a 2.6 mile course that features a short stretch on paved road
before moving to meandering groomed trails. The more difficult Black race features 6.5 miles of ups and
downs beginning with a one mile ascent up the main paved road before moving the the groomed trails that
traverse the entire Southcliff property. This is a one-time opportunity to run in the private community
that rivals any in the area for its beauty and serenity. Both races are chip timed and Urban Burrito caters
the post race food. A very cool long-sleeve tech shirt is given to the first 150 registrants.

October 18, Greeneville, TN Keep Greene Beautiful 3 Mile Walk Join Keep Greene Beautiful for a 3-mile walk on October 17. The course runs through the heart of historic downtown Greeneville, the second oldest town in Tennessee, passing the Home of President Andrew Johnson, Historic General Morgan Inn, Greeneville Town Hall, State of Franklin’s Capitol and the Greene County Courthouse. The Power of Pink - As the health care debate rages on, the Power of Pink offers an opportunity for both men
and women to positively effect health care access. All proceeds from the three races goes to provide mammograms
and followup testing to women of Haywood County who do not have insurance and cannot afford these lifesaving tests.
The twenty mile Pink Relay is an all women relay which has five legs of 4 miles. All legs begin and end at the
Haywood Regional Health & Fitness Center and feature a level of comraderie and togetherness not found at other events. The Pink 4-Miler is a race for anybody and features the same 4 mile loop run by the Pink Relay.

November 21, 10:35am - Asheville, NC The Red Cross Downtown Mountain Mile The Red Cross Downtown Mountain Mile race is finally a reality. The event will start at 10:35 am on Saturday morning (November 21st) just before the start of the Asheville Holiday Parade. We will start near the corner of Coxe and Hilliard, heading east toward Biltmore Ave. When the runners turn left on Biltmore they will be on the Parade route with thousands of parade watchers there to cheer them on as they race up Biltmore, left onto Patton, and down to South French Broad. Another left at South French Broad and the finish is 100 yards ahead in the United Way parking lot. There are actually 2 events going on simultaneously – the 1-mile race with timing chips and awards for finishers (standard ATC award structure w/5-year Age group increments); and a 1-mile fun run/walk that will be self-timed, a lower-priced family event with no prizes. The race registration is through Setup events. The fun run/walk registration is through the American Red Cross WNC website.

We're especially in need of running buddies and course support as the run is very difficult for many of these young girls and we want them to "feel the love". All this requires is coming out and cheering on the girls. Check your calendars and make plans to join us. A running buddy escorts GOTR girls in the achievement of their 5K event. They provide encouragement and lots of high-five's throughout the race and especially at the finish line.
