The Mineral City 5K was raced on Saturday April 26 in downtown Spruce Pine. The brother sister tandem of Shiloh and Josie Mielke took first place in the Men's and Women's Divisions respectively. Jim Carrol and Lisa Houghton were the Men's and Women's winners in the Masters Divisions. See the complete results by clicking on the link in the next column.
The first ever Greenway Challenge 10K and 5K races were run April 5. Stuart Moran was the Men's winner in the 10K with a time of 32:41 followed in second place by Shiloh Mielke with a time of 34:40. First place in the Women's 10K went to Keelin Schneider with a time of 40:00. Keelin was followed in second pace by Julie Corey with a time of 43:43. First place in the Men's 5K went to fourteen year old Ryan Johnson and first place in the Women's 5K went to fifteen year old Sarah Hope. Second place in the Men's and Women's 5K went to Darian Smith and Michelle Shelfer, respectively. Nice going to all of you. Shiloh Mielke (Weaverville. NC) wins the first ever Isaac Dickson Elementary School Hot Chocolate 10K on Saturday in a new course record of 33:03. 17-year-old Asheville High senior, Kelsey Hanger (Asheville, NC), takes the title for the women in 41:46. [Results] [Article] [Photos]

The 31st running of the Thomas Wolfe 8K was held on a beautiful morning. You couldn't have asked for a better morning. Robert Benjamin wins in 26:51 with Gary Curran and Jay Curwen a close second and third. Amanda Chase wins the overall female division in 30:34. Joel Romero and Amanda Chase take the Jus Running 1 mile sprint awards, while Robert Benjamin and Amanda Chase take the Blue Ridge Outdoors 3 mile Sprint Awards. [Overall Results] [Age Group Awards]
An Asheville tradition for 28 consecutive years has once again past for 961 brave (and wet) souls. Stuart Moran wins in 15:19 with Shiloh Mielke a close second at 15:24.
