July 25, 8:00 am – the course
The crown jewel of the Western North Carolina road racing scene is back for its 30 th consecutive year. The Asheville Track Club is proud to host the Bele Chere 5K Presented By Southcliff. Once again the race will be headquartered at historic McCormick Field.
The course represents what running in Asheville is all about: a few moderate climbs, a few fast downhills and friendly people to cheer you on at the race. The race will finish two blocks from the stadium so it is just a short walk for post-race refreshments - courtesy of Citi Stop, Doc Chey's, and Dunkin' Donuts - the finish of the Asheville Tourists Fun Run and the awards ceremony.

The Fun Run (approx. 1 mile) will start at 9:00 a.m. inside Memorial Stadium and finish on the baseball field at McCormick Field. The first 100 Fun Run registrants will receive a special Fun Run T-shirt and all runners will receive a finishers ribbon.
official timing
The Bele Chere 5K uses chip timing. Chips will be handed out only the morning of the race. Those not wearing a chip will not receive a time. Runners who do not return chips will be charged $30.
entry fees
$20 for entries received on or before July 18.
$25 for entries received after July 25 and on the day of the race.
Asheville Track Club members receive a $3 discount for the 5K.
The fee for the Fun Run is $7 for everyone.
$2 from each 5K entry will be donated equally to the Asheville Track Club’s shoe program and the Association for Retarded Citizens.

groups
Military units, middle and high school teams, youth camps and youth running clubs may register for $15 each if 5 or more runners register from a single organization. Individual entries must be submitted together in a single envelope by July 19 to receive the discount.
On-line registration is not available for group entries.
commemorative t-shirt
The official 2008 Bele Chere design will be on the race t-shirt. The first 1,200 5K registrants are guaranteed to receive a shirt.

9:00 am Fun Run Starts – Memorial Stadium.
9:30 am Awards Ceremony – Inside McCormick Field.
packet pick up/late registration
Packet pickup and late registration will be held on Friday, July 25 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Stephens-Lee Recreation Center on Max Street just up Charlotte Street from the stadium. Volunteers will be on hand to distribute race packets, t-shirts, and timing chips and register runners for the race. After picking up your packets, everybody is invited to head uptown to the Southeast's largest free outdoor festival.
awards
Special commemorative plaques will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers for Overall, Masters and Grand Masters.
Age group medals for male and female will be awarded for first, second and third in the following age groups: 12 & Under, 13-15, 16-18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34,35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70 & Over. No double dipping!
The awards ceremony will begin inside the stadium after the finish of the Fun Run. All 5K finishers are encouraged to come inside for door prize announcements, awards ceremony and to cheer on the Fun Run finishers.
